WILLIAMS CAPITAL ACQUIRES THE ASSETS OF NUTMEG SECURITIES
Combination of Two Established Organizations Expands Williams Capital’s Institutional Investor Base and Equity Trading Capabilities
(New York, N.Y. -- April 14, 2009) – The Williams Capital Group, L.P., (WCG), one of the leading
boutique investment banking firms in the U.S. that provides debt and equity underwriting and
corporate finance advisory services, announced today it has acquired 100% of the institutional
assets of Nutmeg Securities LLC, a 22-year old Connecticut-based broker dealer. As part of the
transaction, the partners of Williams Capital also acquired a majority interest in Nutmeg’s retail
brokerage operation, which will continue to operate independently of Williams Capital under the
Nutmeg Securities name. Other terms of the transaction were not announced.
According to Christopher Williams, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Williams Capital,
“The principals of Nutmeg and Williams recognize that the combination of each firm’s unique
client base, technology platform, and sales and management talent, represents a rare and compelling
strategic fit.” Nutmeg’s Matt Rochlin added that, “While both organization’s businesses have
thrived independently, we look forward to realizing the operational potential of two very high
quality and experienced teams.”
The acquisition also bolsters Williams Capital’s management depth as Matt Rochlin, joins Williams
Capital as Vice Chairman, and Robert Colgan, Nutmeg’s operating chief, will bring extensive
equity sales force management experience in his role as head of equities for the combined firm.
DiAnne Calabrisotto will remain in her current role as Chief Operating Officer and Patrick Wo will
remain in his current role as Chief Financial Officer of Williams Capital. “We are enthusiastic
about the opportunity to leverage our firms’ collective resources in order to better serve our broad
equity customer base and enhance the distribution of all of Williams Capital’s products”, added Mr.
Rochlin.
In addition to the expanded institutional investor client base, and the distribution made possible
through the Nutmeg organization’s national retail network, Williams Capital expects to enhance
operating revenue through increased product offerings and cross selling opportunities.
